Delivering presentations and speaking in public is quite scary.
There’s even a name for it, glossophobia; the fear of speaking in public.
It is said to be the number one fear.
Like all fears, it can be overcome by learning some key strategies.
I’ve been where you are now, in my early career, standing up and delivering presentations which I found really scary.
I did my first ever presentation training in 1998 and I was SO nervous. I even had it video recorded (on VHS cassette), and I was shocked at how bad my skills were. The lessons learned from that training have stayed with me ever since.
Fast forward 26 years, and I now teach others about the importance of effective presentations. I have taught 960,000 delegates in 5 continents the importance of effective communication.
80% of these delegates speak English as second language and I’ve had the pleasure of watching people overcome this internal fear and flourish in their presentation skills. This has opened doors in their professional careers that would’ve remained shut had they not learned and applied some of these techniques.
